KilnOS™
KilnOS™ is the operating intelligence layer that distinguishes the M-Kiln™ from conventional mobile kilns and more complex fixed pyrolysis systems. Rather than relying solely on operator judgement, fixed recipes, or highly engineered continuous-feed systems, KilnOS™ delivers real-time dynamic analysis of each batch throughout processing. Drawing on data from the kiln’s integrated sensor network, it continuously monitors temperature behaviour, process progression, and batch conditions during the burn, enabling the system to adapt to the specific characteristics of the feedstock being processed.
Adaptive residency
KilnOS™ is the brain of the M-Kiln™, helping operators produce consistent, high-quality biochar from varying biomass and operating conditions.
Operators tell KilnOS™ what material is being loaded and it’s moisture content and KilnOS™ analyses up to 10,000 data points per hour from anetwork of sensors integrated into the kiln, it calculates the exact moment to empty the kiln sending a text message when the batch is done.
Yet the system makes operation simple without hiding the detail. Rather than relying on separate instruments, manual checks and disconnected controls, the M-Kiln™ Command Centre brings physical controls and live data together in one intuitive interface. From the same position, operators can monitor kiln status, temperature and weight, weather data, battery levels, sensor performance and batch progression. This gives them the information they need to manage the kiln confidently, without overcomplicating the process.
KilnOS™ supports every stage of operation, from loading and ignition through quenching and offloading. This helps improve consistency and ensure established procedures are followed across each batch.
The result is operators retain oversight and control, within a more efficient and consistent production environment.
Near real-time connectivity.
Every kiln is supported by a near real-time data connection via Starlink or GSM. This capability helps verify that production is being conducted consistently across distinct locations, feedstocks, and operators. Where operational support or fault diagnosis is required, the remote connection can be used to access the kiln, review live data, and assist in identifying and resolving issues on site.
This capability enables the M-Kiln™ to achieve a level of production consistency that is difficult to attain with other field-based systems, while avoiding the complexity, cost, and specialist training requirements commonly associated with industrial pyrolysis plants.
For operators, KilnOS™ simplifies process management by providing clear operational guidance, recording key production data, and confirming when a batch is ready for unloading. This reduces the need for extensive training programmes or continuous expert supervision.
For customers and carbon-credit purchasers, KilnOS™ provides assurance that each batch has been monitored, documented, and produced in accordance with consistent operating standards. The result is a mobile kiln system that combines field-ready practicality with the rigorous data management and process oversight typically associated with advanced industrial equipment.
The Command Centre
The Command Centre is engineered for operation in outdoor environments, ensuring dependable performance under demanding field conditions and across a broad range of weather scenarios.
The latest M-Kiln™ incorporates an integrated Command Centre designed to provide operators with comprehensive oversight and control through a single, intuitive interface. Rather than relying on separate instruments, manual inspections, and disconnected control systems, operators can monitor critical operating parameters via the central KilnOS™ console, which delivers a unified view of the entire production process.
The Command Centre enables operators to monitor real-time kiln status, operating conditions, weather conditions, battery status, sensor performance, and process progression throughout each batch. KilnOS™ guides operators through every stage of operation, from loading and ignition to active processing, completion, lid opening, quenching, and offloading. This approach reduces training requirements, promotes operational consistency, and provides assurance that established procedures are followed at every stage.
During unloading, the Command Centre facilitates remote operation of key functions, including lid opening and quenching. This capability allows operators to manage the offloading process with enhanced visibility and from a safer, more controlled location, thereby reducing the need for manual intervention near the kiln. While operators retain full authority over the process, KilnOS™ provides the guidance, monitoring, and prompts necessary to ensure that each step is executed safely and consistently.
The result is a more controlled and efficient operating environment. Operators can maintain comprehensive oversight of kiln operations, clearly understand required actions, and manage the system with confidence. Simultaneously, Biochar Club™ benefits from improved data collection, standardized operating procedures, and strengthened support for the consistent production of high-quality biochar across multiple sites.
